We recommend that you come in for a cleaning every six months to help you keep your smile looking and feeling its best. One of our dental hygienists will clean plaque and tartar away from your teeth. Then, they will buff and polish your teeth with toothpaste and floss your teeth.
This process removes the buildup of harmful plaque and tartar that cause gum disease and cavities. Your smile will look and feel beautiful and bright after your teeth are cleaned. Your hygienist will then discuss home care instructions with you and make any necessary recommendations to maintain the health of your gums.
During your oral exam, Dr. Hang Pham will examine your mouth, and look for any signs that your oral health may be changing. X-rays may be taken, if deemed necessary. If an issue is detected, we’ll make sure you get the care you need to prevent any further complications.
By coming in for an exam every six months, we’ll be able to catch any potential problems like tooth decay or gum disease early. This saves you both time and money by preventing the need for further treatments that may be more time-consuming and costly.
A deep cleaning (scaling & root planing) may be required if you have gingivitis or gum disease. Our team will clean between your gums and teeth to remove plaque and bacteria, and smooth the roots of your teeth to eliminate the pockets where bacteria gather. Combined with antibiotics, deep cleanings are a very effective method of treating minor-to-moderate gum disease.
Oral cancer screenings are a part of every comprehensive oral exam at our office. During your appointment, Dr. Hang Pham will check your mouth for any potential signs of oral cancer, such as lesions, bumps, discolored patches of tissue, and anything else that may be concerning. This gives you peace of mind and ensures that you can get help right away in the rare event that we notice an issue.
Keep Your Teeth Healthy
Proper At-Home Oral Care
Coming to our office for an appointment every six months isn’t the only important part of preventive dentistry. It is also crucial that you take steps to keep your smile healthy with at-home oral care.
It is important that you brush at least two times per day for two minutes. The best time to brush is in the mornings and the evenings, as this is when you’ll be able to eliminate the most oral bacteria. You should also floss once per day. Using a fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash several times per day can also help you fight back against gum disease and tooth decay. Follow these steps, and keep your smile healthy.
